Sigma Gamma Rho was founded on and continues to be steadfastly committed to the tenets of excellence in Scholarship, Sisterhood and Service. Sigma Gamma Rho has a proud legacy of providing positive and proactive community leadership and support when and wherever needed as indicated by the sorority's international slogan, "Greater Service, Greater Progress."

Theta Chi Sigma
Theta Chi Sigma (TCS) was chartered on March 6, 1999 in Oak Park, IL by 30 professional women seeking to serve the disenfranchised communities on Chicago’s west side and neighboring suburbs. These women, comprised of various backgrounds and experiences, set out to serve the greater Chicagoland area under the auspices of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. by utilizing their God-given individual talents that would help uplift and revitalize a community. More than 20 years later, TCS continues the charge to serve our community with a “hand up” approach and an empathetic spirit that is committed to Leading, empowering and transforming our community.

Theta Chi Sigma has been trailblazers in developing innovative, outcome-driven civic, social, educational and economic programs for the community with an emphasis on the positive development of the youth.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was founded on November 12, 1922, at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, by seven young educators.
